“Don’t film with animals or children! Correct or not?”

“The two Dobermans race down the street like two dark arrows, closely chasing a man. Their fledged teeth and loud barking seem menacing.” This is what the script tells us. To actually get there, however, can be a long, partly amusing but mainly educational journey.

Studioproduktion TVC weeCONOMY“Don’t shoot with animals or children!”
On the set you get an idea of what this old film rule is all about. The smallest of your concerns is that the four-legged stars could steal someone’s show. Rather, everything takes longer and the regulations are strict. And even stricter when children are involved. Many permits have to be obtained and it depends on the age of the children, how long they are allowed on set and these times need to be recorded in the schedule. Fortunately it is easier with animals – but still subject to approval according to § 11 I S. 1 No. 3b of the Animal Protection Act. Of course a good animal trainer knows this and what is important on set. Would you like a little tester?

Feeding and petting forbidden
Everyone loves to play with animals, especially dogs. The ones on set, however, cannot be petted. “No stroking and no feeding,” says the animal trainer as it disturbs their concentration. And as their concentration is quickly lost, the animals should be brought onto the set only when everything and everyone is actually ready to film.

Moving Images in Employer Branding Part I: Video – an Effective Instrument in the “War for Talent”

It finally happened in mid-2016: YouTube cracked the 1 billion users. This corresponds to nearly one third of all Internet users! These users watch 1 billion hours of YouTube per day and generate billions of clicks. More than half of all these clicks are made via mobile devices. Numbers that will leave anyone feel stunned.

Green Screen – the All-Round Remedy? (Part 1)

“Let’s just film in front of green! That way, we save ourselves the effort of constantly building new locations!” Or: “We need to have another go at a scene. Perhaps we’ll do that in front of the green screen, then we can just implement it into the other scenes.” These are all examples of customer statements – mostly expressed with great enthusiasm… However, we have to destroy this illusion of the ‘green solution’ pretty quickly, as filming in front of green is unfortunately not always the solution for everything.

Content is King, Distribution is Queen – and She Wears the Pants?

Who would not want their elaborately produced video to also be a success on the web? A video that is often clicked, shared and liked? This happens – contrary to widespread belief – rarely by chance. Rather, precise planning (“seeding”) is behind it, because the competition never sleeps. 300 hours of video material are being uploaded on YouTube every minute!

Well Briefed is Half the Battle Won

Video has emerged as an effective medium of communication. But to get started with such a project, the client needs to have a good briefing.

Writing a briefing is paying off in the long run. In all honesty! Admittedly, it costs time and effort, but it gives you a clear view of the project, the objectives and the related tasks. And that will pay off in the course of the project. You’ll be able to plan the project wisely and reduce the questions and misunderstandings of all parties to a minimum. It also helps the potential production companies to deliver a reliable cost estimate.

Reality shows, however, that writing briefings is not very popular. Where to begin and where to stop? What is the bare minimum and what is over the top?

We’ve assembled the most important aspects in a short brief for you.

“Let’s Go Viral, Please!”

“The film needs to be really successful.” When I hear this sentence from customers, I generally know what many of them have in mind: a viral Internet sensation. Spots that are clicked as much as possible, “liked” and shared, and that seem to spread by themselves on the Web. The nature of the film and the content that needs to be conveyed are often secondary in such a briefing. Usually that means that we’ve got to go right back to the beginning again and discuss the message of the film. Viral spots are not suitable for every topic and not for every client. This is the case when there are quite a few topics or when these are simply too complex. An explanatory video or editorial video usually couldn’t be further away from a viral, but it might still be the most appropriate way to transport the content.

Boat to boat instead of car to car: BMW Marine 507

When filming for BMW we normally film with a camera car. Mid-September 2014 we had a completely different approach. The star of our production was the BMW Marine 507 speedboat, built in 1957.Continue Reading..
